Serafini family, since 1933

FAMILY: a common word so simple, yet with a profound meaning that holds immense value for us. The beating heart of our Refuge.

Love, tradition and dedication

The history of Rifugio Lago Nambino is a tale of love, tradition and dedication, passed down from generation to generation since 1933, when siblings Giovanni and Maria Serafini transformed a modest “bait” on the lakeshore into a welcoming and warm place, becoming a meeting and rest point for hunters. Over the years, it evolved into a real Refuge that hosted Italian, German and English tourists, who stayed for long periods during the summer, enjoying the fresh air and forming sincere friendships with Giovanni and Maria.

Expansion of the Refuge

In 1962, Renzo, Giovanni’s son, took over the Refuge together with his beloved Graziella. Between 1962 and 1969, their family grew with the births of Giancarlo, Luisa, Cinzia and Cristina. Over time, the Refuge expanded, with the addition of the restaurant in 1969 and the bar area in 1972, which was later renovated in 1992. The children grew up and helped their parents during the summer vacation periods. The seasons passed with hard work and satisfaction, with the Refuge open in the summer from June to September and only during the Christmas period in winter, when the challenge was to keep the place warm and shovel the snow.

The 3 sisters, the strength of the Refuge

In 1996, a serious illness struck Renzo, forcing him to move to the village with his wife Graziella, who stayed by his side during his treatment. At that moment, the management passed into the hands of their three daughters: Luisa, Cinzia and Cristina.

Love for the little things

In 2007, the three sisters renovated and renewed the Refuge, always keeping the tradition and love for the little things alive. Three sisters, but also three mothers who have managed to pass on values like love, respect, dedication, sacrifice and courage to their children.
